MANJADIKURU
FABRIC CONSTRUCTION
This project aims to create a visually captivating and tactile collection of surfaces and textures through machine stitching inspired by a childhood memory, capturing its essence through creative associations and exploration of various textile techniques.
Inspiration
These seeds have commonly been known as the red lucky seeds (Manjadikuru in Malayalam). During my childhood, frequent visits to the Guruvayoor temple have allowed me to discover these seeds, which have been stored in a sizable gold container. As a youngster, I have delighted in playing with and collecting these seeds.

Form study
I have endeavored to sketch the various angles of the plant, aiming to comprehend the different stages of its growth and the intricate process of its gradual drying up and unfurling.

Ideation
Following the form study, I have quickly outlined various approaches for shaping the surfaces, drawing inspiration from various perspectives and developmental stages of the plant.

Additionally, I have established my personal warp and have ventured into weaving a sample inspired by the manjadi plant.

After generating these samples, the next step has been to select one and transform it into a product. I have opted to create something along the lines of apparel.

Final garment
Following this decision, I have chosen to craft a coat. Utilizing a pattern sourced from the Internet, I have meticulously constructed and stitched the toile, after which the final garment has been stitched by a tailor.
