CRAFT DOCUMENTATION
The project has aimed at comprehensively exploring a specific craft of a region and presenting it in a documented book format. This has involved delving into its historical aspects through secondary research, gaining insights into the local community, their behaviours, and the craft's intrinsic nature, all while considering market dynamics through primary research.
I selected the craft of Toda embroidery from Ooty, Tamil Nadu. In meeting the people involved, I not only learned about their craft but also gained valuable insights into their daily lives and rich cultural practices. I am immensely grateful to the individuals at the Tribal Research Centre, Ooty, for their continuous support throughout this journey. Their assistance not only provided me access to Toda settlements but also invaluable reading sources, enhancing my understanding of Toda embroidery and their community.
